ISLAMABAD:

The Women Police Station has registered a case against MNA Shahjehan Mangrio for assaulting a lady constable, said a police official.

The case was registered on the complaint of constable Afshan Naz who told police that Mangrio, the National Peoples Party MNA from Sukkur, allegedly assaulted her at Parliament Lodges.

The case was registered under section 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 353(Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty). The incident took place on Tuesday at the gate of the lodges.

Police said arguments began when the constable refused to go see the MNA in her room. Sources explained that the MNA had asked the constable to facilitate a guest of hers. However, the guest was not given ‘due protocol’.

When contacted, investigation officer Muhammad Ashfaq confirmed that the case has been registered. However, police have yet to receive the medical report.
