Capital punishment: Nine convicts hanged across province

Nine death row convicts were hanged in jails across the province on Tuesday.


The execution of two others was stopped after their families reached a settlement with heirs of the deceased.

Khalil Ahmed and Nadeem were hanged at Kot Lakhpat jail. They had been incarcerated since 2001 and 1999, respectively.

Three convicts were hanged in Attock district jail. Muhammad Bashir had been convicted in a murder case registered in 1998, Aleeq Shah in a case registered in 2001 and Amjad in a case registered in 2002.

Two convicts were hanged at Faisalabad Central Jail. Muhammad Akram had been held in a murder case in 2000 and Muhammad Saeed in a case in 2003.

Muhammad Farooq was hanged at the Sargodha district jail and Mustafa at the Bahawalpur central jail.

The execution of Muhammad Aslam, held at Multan central jail, and of Muhammad Shahid, held at Bahawalpur central jail, was stopped after they were pardoned by the heirs of the deceased.
