A teenager committed suicide in Bahlak police precinct on Sunday allegedly over lost love.

The SHO said the boy’s love interest had been engaged to another man and distraught at this, he took his life.

The 18-year-old boy, a resident of Chak 597-GB, had fallen in love with his cousin and had asked his family to get them married. However, the girl’s father had rejected the proposal and arranged for his daughter to be engaged to someone else.

The boy was distraught over the news of his cousin’s engagement and hanged himself from a tree in front of his house.

Police said his body had been sent for post-mortem examination.

Separately, a 22-year-old woman from Yousuf Abad, a woman from Chak 108-GB, a 35-year-old man from Chak 226-RB, a 24-year-old man from Ghulam Muhammad Abad, and a man from Mansoorabad attempted suicide.
