Over ‘honour’: Couple gunned down in Swat

MINGORA: A couple was gunned down in an apparent case of honour killing in Barikot tehsil of Swat district Saturday morning. Nazim Khan, a police official, told The Express Tribune the incident occurred in Nawa Kalay area. “Locals informed the police about a firing incident in the area,” said Nazim. “When the police arrived on the site, they found two bodies inside a house.” The deceased have been identified as Roqayya and Ilyas. Their remains were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Barikot. An FIR has been registered and further investigation is under way. A day earlier, three women—a mother and her two daughters—were killed at their house in Zargarabad area of Peshawar. According to police, Bilquis and her daughters, Hanifia Bibi and Kaftia Bibi, were shot dead over charges of adultery. Bilquis’ husband and one of her son-in-law’s allegedly orchestrated the attack.
