Appointment of judges: JCP to mull over three names

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan will meet on Saturday to consider three names for the Balochistan High Court.


The commission, according to sources, will recommend three names out of six namely; advocates Sher Shah Kaki, Zahoor Mengal, Abdullah Baloch, Shaukat Rakhshani, and two sessions judges Naveed Lango and Azhar Kakar.


The meeting will be presided by Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali and attended by four senior judges of Supreme Court, Chief Justice BHC, law minister, attorney general for Pakistan and representative of Pakistan Bar Council.


Sources have also shared with The Express Tribune that the commission in its October 20 meeting will recommend LHC Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik and LHC senior judge Tariq Masood’s names for the Supreme Court.


According to the sources Justice Ijazul Hassan will be recommended for the position of Chief Justice Lahore High Court.
