Chief secretary orders enforcement of quota for special persons

LAHORE: Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal on Wednesday ordered all departments to cooperate with Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission in resolving problems faced by Pakistanis living abroad.

The chief secretary chaired a meeting to discuss matters related to local government elections, problems faced by overseas Pakistanis and the enforcement of job quotas for special persons.

The Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission chairman told the meeting that out of 1,200 complaints received by the commission, 779 had been addressed. He said tehsil and district level committees had been formed to address problems faced by overseas Pakistanis.

Local Government and Community Development Secretary Khalid Masood Chaudhry said the first phase of Election Commission of Pakistan’s programme to train election staff had started.

The chief secretary instructed all departments to make sure that their staff attended the training. He ordered that job quotas for special persons be enforced at all costs.

He said complaints of pensioners should be addressed early.

The Board of Revenue senior member, the additional chief secretary and secretaries of Law, Information, Regulations and Services Departments attended the meeting.
