People with visual impairments from various districts protested outside Peshawar Press Club, demanding their reserved 2% quota in government jobs on Thursday. Talking to The Express Tribune, Noroz Khan from Charsadda said, “The government had allocated a 2% quota in government jobs for people with all kinds of disabilities and we have a right to these jobs.”
“We met government officials several times but have not received any positive response as yet,” Noroz said. He also pressed the government to give scholarships to people with visual impairments.
Muhammad Daud from Peshawar said the Punjab government had given jobs to those visually impaired based on the reserved quota but the K-P government had deprived the people of their rights.
“We passed our matric and intermediate examinations and then applied for jobs through the quota but people without any disabilities have been given our seats,” he said.
