PESHAWAR:

A 40-year-old woman died at Lady Reading Hospital, allegedly as a result of negligent doctors on Monday. Zarqa was rushed to LRH after she lost consciousness at her house on Dalazak Road.

Her relatives said that she suffered cardiac arrest but the doctor on duty advised that an ultrasound be carried out. “I told the doctors she was unconscious and her blood pressure should be checked since it seemed to be a heart problem but the doctor said an ultrasound had to be carried out,” said Faiz Muhammad, Zarqa’s brother.

“The doctor did not check Zarqa’s blood pressure and later referred her to the surgical department.” Faiz said Zarqa died before she could be taken to the department. He added he filed an application for enquiry into the case.

When contacted, LRH Public Relations Officer Jamil Shah said Director Dr Laiqzada has taken notice and has directed an enquiry into the case.
