Creating awareness: Privatisation road show in Washington

The event is being organised by the Privatisation Commission in cooperation with the World Bank

As part of its ambitious privatisation programme for the power sector and in a bid to explore private sector's participation in thermal power generation and distribution companies, Privatisation Commission Chairman Mohammad Zubair will outline Pakistan's sell-off programme at a road show in Washington on Thursday. The event titled "Market Consultation: Pakistan's Power Sector Privatisation Road Show" will be held at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Centre and is being organised by the Privatisation Commission in cooperation with the World BankThe event , the United States Energy Association and the US-Pakistan Business Council.


The government had already transferred governance of distribution companies, three generation companies and the NTDCto the new board of directors and management.

cautious | 8 years ago | Reply USA investors are unlikely to acquire a business where profitability is determined by the whim of a politician - especially in Pakistan which runs much of it's energy sector like it was the old Soviet Union.
