SUKKUR: Ghotki police on Wednesday registered a case against five persons on the alleged charges of humiliating and torturing a ninth grader near the Gaji Minor watercourse within Yaroo Lund police limits near Mirpur Mathelo.

Reports have said that Roshan Ali Lund, a resident of village Suhrab Lund and student of class nine in Shaheen Public School, Mirpur Mathelo, was on his way back to his village after school when the incident occurred. When the boy reached near the Gaji Minor, five persons caught hold of him and shaved his head and eyebrows, fleeing after torturing him.

As they came to know about the incident, the villagers rushed to the scene and shifted the boy to Civil hospital, Mirpur Mathelo, where he received first aid. Later, the boy was taken to the Yaroo Lund police station, where, in his statement, he alleged that five persons including Jamal Din, Muhammad Usman, Habib, Nazir Ahmed and Shabir Ahmed, all Lund by caste, intercepted him and, after shaving his head and eyebrows, tortured him. The police have registered a case against the accused but no action was taken till the filing of this report.

Residents of the area are claiming that the maltreatment of the boy was the result of a brawl between the youngsters during a cricket match on Tuesday. They said that such things happen when boys play together but the treatment meted out to the boy was a criminal act and the culprits should be punished.
