Action against 23,000 blacklisted vehicles likely after Eidul Fitr

KARACHI:

Sindh police chief Javed Alam Odho on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review traffic management and the overall performance of the faceless e-ticketing system in the metropolis, directing action against thousands of vehicles blacklisted under the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS).

The meeting, held at the Central Police Office, was attended by the AIG Karachi, DIGs of Sindh Police Highways Patrol, Security and Emergency Division, Headquarters, Traffic Karachi, T&T, IT, and the DG Safe City Authority, among other officials.

Briefing the participants, DIG Traffic Karachi said that action would be initiated after Eid against 23,000 vehicles — mostly motorcycles without number plates — identified and blacklisted through the TRACS system. He added that around 600,000 e-tickets had been issued since October 27, 2025, while further measures were being taken to improve the system, enhance public facilitation and expand services.

Taking notice of a recent surge in traffic accidents in Karachi, the IG Sindh directed the DIG Traffic to conduct transparent and comprehensive inquiries into the incidents and submit a detailed report. He also asked that the report include causes of accidents and concrete recommendations to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The IG expressed overall satisfaction with traffic arrangements during Ramazan but stressed the need for stricter enforcement against heavy vehicle drivers and motorcycle riders violating traffic laws.
