Civil service reforms: New service group being formed

The minister on Tuesday constituted a five-member committee to submit its findings within a week

In a move to reform the central bureaucracy, of counter red-tape policymaking, the federal government has come up with a civil service group. Discussions have been initiated to finalise the procedure for induction in the Nation Executive Service. Sources said that Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal held a meeting to finalise civil service reforms. The minister on Tuesday constituted a five-member committee to submit its findings within a week. According to the proposals, the age limit will be extended to 42. Sources revealed that the pay structures will also be changed, with salaries rising to Rs1 million for a grade-22 officer, Rs800,000 for grade-21, and Rs600,000 for grade-20 officers. Entry-level National Executive Service will be grade-19 officers who will make at least 400,000 per month.
