Prevention: Five factories sealed over dengue larvae

The Saddar assistant commissioner on Saturday sealed five factories near Batala Colony where dengue larvae were found. She then directed police to register cases against under the Punjab Prevention and Control of Dengue Act.


Talking to newsmen, Assistant Commissioner Rafia Haider said the DCO had directed the assistant commissioners to take strict action against owners of factories flouting government’s orders on dengue prevention.  “We want to ensure that Faisalabad remains dengue-free,” she said. Haider was accompanied by a team of Environment Protection Department.  She said factory owners had been directed to arrange periodic sprays at their premises and keep their factories free of standing water.  She appealed to residents of the area to contact her office if they found dengue larvae near their houses. She said the district government would send teams for sprays.
