SHABQADAR: A security forces official was killed and two were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Baizai subdivision, Mohmand Agency. A political administration official in Upper Mohmand confirmed the IED attack on the security forces.

He added, “Security forces were patrolling Soran Valley in Baizai, when an IED went off on the roadside around 3pm on Saturday.” As a result, Fakhir Nawaz died on the spot while the two other injured officials were airlifted to Peshawar for treatment. The forces later searched the area for the suspects. No arrest was reported till filing of this story.

In Bajaur, a tribal elder was killed by unidentified militants in Badan, Mamond. A political administration official from Bajaur Agency confirmed Jan Mohammad, the cousin of another prominent elder Malik Aziz Khan, was shot dead Saturday evening. The victim died on the spot, while the assailants fled the site. Some suspects were later arrested.

Ablaze

Multiple arsenal incidents took place in Safi tehsil of Mohmand Agency late Friday night. A loading machine and rooms were set ablaze in mines by unidentified culprits.

The loader belonged to Haji Jalat Khan Mine, whereas the torched rooms were at Noor Hashim and Khanga marble mines. The loading machine’s owner, Haji Sultan, told The Express Tribune his machine was stationed in the marble factory and it was worth more than Rs6 million. He said he has no enemies in the area and appealed to the government to compensate him for the equipment.

The political administration searched the area and arrested suspects under FCR.
