
The former world number 16 took just 25 minutes to see off Shoukat with scores of 11-5, 11-8 and 11-8.
Meanwhile, his younger brother Waqar was involved in a gruelling five-setter with youngster Asim Khan, but Waqar hung on to win 3-2 after the 70-minute struggle.
In the last two matches of the day, Kashif Asif beat Ahsan Ayaz 3-1, while Sheikh Saqib triumphed 3-0 against Shoaib Hasan.
All four winners will now play in the main round which begins on Saturday; players from Egypt and New Zealand will also feature in the event.
