In Custody: Two arrested for embezzlement

NOWSHERA: The anti-corruption department of Nowshera arrested a sub-engineer and contractor of the Communication and Works (C&W) department over embezzlement charges on Tuesday. Insiders familiar with the matter told The Express Tribune that the department had successfully recovered Rs1.7 million. They added efforts are under way to recover the remaining Rs21.8 million. The department initiated an enquiry into a project during the tenure of the previous government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The enquiry team found substantial evidence to prove the embezzlement charges. As a result, the sub-engineer and contractor of the C&W department, Jehanzeb and Wahid, respectively, were taken into custody. Action will be taken against several other officials who had embezzled money during the previous government’s tenure.
