ISLAMABAD:

On Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan’s directive, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has cracked down on elements involved in human smuggling and illegal transportation abroad.

An interior ministry spokesman said that during various raids conducted in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Multan and Lahore, 24 travel agents have been arrested so far. He said that hundreds of passports, Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC) and other travel documents have been recovered from the custody of the arrested agents.

The spokesperson quoted the Interior Minister as saying that by promising to send needy and innocent people abroad, negative elements exploit them. Thus they deserve no leniency.

The interior minister said that elements involved in human smuggling give the country a bad name. He directed FIA to undertake effective and comprehensive action against all such elements.
