KARACHI:

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has rolled back a controversial plan to use its two turbo-prop aircraft for charter service, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Aviation Shujaat Azeem said Tuesday.

“The Beechcraft King Air B-200 aircraft will be used for their original purpose of calibration,” he said.

“CAA took that decision in a bid to make use of the aircraft as they have been standing idle since contracts for providing the calibration services expired,” he added.

“But obviously that is unacceptable considering the problem that would create for private charter service providers.”

The aircraft are installed with ‘Automatic Flight Inspection System’, which is used for calibration purpose.

The decision comes following the publication of a news report on the matter in The Express Tribune.
