KARACHI:

The provincial home department has issued a code of conduct for the collection of hides of sacrificial animals on Eidul Azha.

Though the code of conduct is similar to those of the last several years , it has to be seen if the law enforcement agencies will be successful in its implementation.

In addition to the ban imposed on use of loudspeakers, banners, posters and erecting camps, door-to-door collection of hides has also been banned. “Only welfare organisations, political parties and those who sign the code of conduct will be allowed to collect hides,” stated the code of conduct. Carrying arms, ammunition and batons will also be banned on the three days of Eid.

Law enforcement agencies have also been put on high alert for the Eid days due to the possibility of clashes or violent acts over collection of hides. According to the code of conduct, special protocol will be given to the hides’ transportation vehicles and they will have to inform authorities of their transportation vehicles and routes before moving.
