ISLAMABAD:

Hundreds of students on Sunday attended a “Back to School” fair in Islamabad, organised by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP).

Pakistani students interested in studying in the United States met alumni from more than 50 US colleges and universities, who talked about their own experiences. US embassy staff also answered questions about their alma maters, in addition to questions about campus life in America, the application process, and how to apply for a student visa.

“This fair is designed to help students familiarise themselves with what studying in the United States is all about,” said EducationUSA Advising Manager Umair Khan, according to a press release.

US Embassy Press Officer Kristin Hawkins, an alumna of University of Virginia, described her time living with international students in the dorms as “one of the most enriching experiences of her life” and what encouraged her to become a diplomat.

USEFP is a bi-national commission established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the US with a mission is to promote mutual understanding between the two people through educational and cultural exchange programmes.
