Sexual harassment

Letter April 28, 2010

KARACHI: I agree with Rabia Syed when she said in her letter of April 28 titled ‘Sexual harassment’ that those who sexually harass women in the workplace need to be shamed. Having said that, the passage of a sexual harassment law in Pakistan is an excellent first step towards stamping out this practice. And in this regard I would say that many organisations have adopted it and are doing their bit to implement it.

For instance, I came to know that one of the country’s largest public sector organisations, PSO, has a stringent policy in place to proceed against those who engage in actions deemed to be sexual harassment. I hope that other companies will also follow suit.
