LAHORE: Much to her fans’ content, Khushboo is contemplating her return to stage this Eidul Azha. The actor, who sustained injuries in a road accident in June that claimed the life of her brother Javed and niece Alina and left members of her entourage injured, had been advised bed rest and is undergoing physiotherapy.

“I’m feeling better and a few of my friends have requested me to star in a stage drama on Eid. I’m considering it now,” she said. “I’m yet to discuss what play I’ll perform in. I’ll make the call after negotiating with the producers,” she added.

Although gradually recovering, Khushboo has been spending most of her time at home, having kept away from professional activities. “It’s sad that I couldn’t indulge in stage-related activities [after the accident]. My doctors advised against it till I fully recover,” said Khushboo.

Her potential return would bode well for stage producers, who have acknowledged the void left by her absence. They had been searching for replacements, as holidays such as Eid are deemed profitable for theatre. Khushboo has often been touted as the reason behind the success of numerous plays and has a strong fan-base, with people flocking to theatres to watch her dance performances. “Khushboo is the first choice of every stage producer during Eid season,” said theatre producer Qaiser Javed.

The artist was unable to feature in any stage play on Eidul Fitr when she was due to perform in Alfalah Theatre. “Stage producers have been concerned as no actor proved to be a good replacement for her on Eidul Fitr,” noted Qaiser. “Alfalah Theatre administration got film actor Laila on board but the alteration failed to fulfill expectations,” he explained.
