Fine print : Over 50,000 books on display

The speakers at the inauguration ceremony said reading was key to sustainable success

MARDAN: More than 50,000 books were on display during a fair held at Shah Dhandh Baba Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Mardan on Monday. The fair was organised by the National Book Foundation (NBP). The book festival was inaugurated by Mardan District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar in the morning NBP Deputy Director Akbar Ali Mohmand said concessions of between 15-50% would be given to teachers and students at the book fair. He said the main objective of the event was to revive the habit of reading among students. Mayar also asked NBP to increase the duration of the fair as it would benefit a large number of students and locals. The speakers at the inauguration ceremony said reading was key to sustainable success. District Education Officer (female) Dilshad Begum and several other officials were present on the occasion.
