LAHORE:

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Sunday every penny of the public money was being spent only on people’s welfare.

He was speaking to a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz office-bearers.

The chief minister said the government had saved billions of rupees by persuading the lowest bidders for various development projects across the province to further lower their charges. He said transparency, the quality and early completion of development projects was the government’s priority.

Sharif said that under the Saaf Pani Project potable water would be available by 2017 in all tehsils across the province.

“Apart from constructing new hospitals, the government is trying to ensure the availability of doctors and medicines in all tehsils,” the chief minister said.

Sharif informed the PML-N office-bearers that the foundation stone of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre had been laid in Lahore.
