LAHORE:

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have agreed to share their data, The Express Tribune has learnt.

A PRA official said that during a meeting with an FBR delegation on Thursday it was decided that the authority would share data collected on the turn over of service-sector businesses it had registered in the city with the FBR. The businesses include fashion designers, fitness centres, event management companies, wedding halls, restaurants, travel agents, and auto workshops. He said the FBR wanted to collate the data on turn over with income tax returns filed by these businesses. He said under the agreement the FBR would let the PRA benefit from the data on service-sector business available with it.  The PRA has been authorised to collect taxes from companies in construction, travel agencies, human resource supply, software and information technology companies and development consultants.
