Atif Aslam and Sonu Nigam are powerhouses in their own fashion and when combined, they create nothing short of magic. Recently, they came together to perform in front of a packed arena in Dubai.

The crowd was left mesmerised when the two took the stage to perform as they began the act by singing Jagjit Singh’s iconic ghazal Hothon Se Chhu Lo Tum by Jagjit Singh.

They also crooned timeless tunes of Mohammad Rafi and Reshma. Sonu looked overwhelmed when Atif took the limelight and worked his magic on Mohammad Rafi’s popular song Din Dhal Jaye from the 60’s hit film Guide.

The audience quietly swayed to the tunes as Sonu proceeded with Reshma’s famous song Lambi Judai.Their duet definitely hit the jackpot and had everyone bewitched. The two singers sang popular 70s track Kya Hua Tera Wada — originally sung by Mohammad Rafi for film Hum Kisise Kum Naheen.

Earlier at a press conference, both singers claimed that they stand united to promote peace between India and Pakistan and are against the ongoing ban policies. They believe that people of the two countries should “leave politics for those who play the game”.

“There should never be any lines or demarcations in the creative field. Art and music transcend such petty politics,” said Atif at a press conference, reported Emirates 24/7.

“Which is why both, Sonu and I, are united in our decision to perform together, as one unit. Audiences in Dubai will not be seeing two solo concerts on one stage tonight; they will see us performing largely together as a tribute to India and Pakistan,” he added.

Sonu Nigam had supported Atif’s statement saying, “We will show the people how two artists, from India and Pakistan, can share a stage in the name of unity. This concert will set an example of how the community needs to behave.”

The concert at the Dubai World Trade Centre was held in memory of the ones who lost their lives in Yemen.
