PESHAWAR: A police officer and two suspected militants were killed late Friday night during an exchange of fire in Peshawar's Pishtakhara area.

"Two attackers and one police official were killed during the exchange of fire on Sufid Dheri Road," police officials confirmed.

Meanwhile, officials at the Hayatabad Medical Complex confirmed that "three still remain injured."

A police vehicle came under attack during its patrol of the area Friday night after which police retaliated with firing; resulting in the death of three.

The injured were immediately rushed to the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) where their condition was said to be stable.

“We have no idea who these miscreants are and why they fired at police party,” said an official, adding that they were trying to establish the identity of the two men and a search operation had also been started in the area.
