KARACHI: Almost after a month on attack on Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Rashid Godil, a deputy superintendent of police was injured during a robbery attempt in Karachi’s Bahadurabad area on Thursday evening.

DSP Suhail Abbas, posted at the Excise and Taxation Department, was sitting in the driving seat of his Toyota Prius near Naheed superstore when two armed men, riding on a motorcycle, approached him, the office of the DIG East said.

Realising the intentions of the men, Abbas pulled out his pistol to avert the snatching attempt.

Noticing the gun, the alleged robbers fired multiple times at him. Some of which shots pierced through the door of the driving seat. One of the bullets struck DSP Abbas's right leg.

Abbas was shifted to the Agha Khan Hospital where his condition was described as stable.

On Tuesday, the van of a private media group was attacked by gunmen in the same vicinity.
