The peoples-champion Roger Federer once again won the hearts of fans by rescuing a boy from getting crushed by the crowds rushing forward to take the Swiss stars autograph after his win over John Isner yesterday at US Open.

After securing a straight-set win over Isner in the fourth round at Flushing Meadows, the 17-time Grand Slam champion stopped to sign some autographs before leaving the court.

However, the autograph session soon took a dangerous turn as people; in their haste to get Federer’s autograph, started rushing towards him, crushing a little boy at the end of the row close to where Federer was standing, according to Financial Express.

Noticing the child’s difficult position, Federer asked security to pull the boy out of the heaving mass.

The Swiss maestro then comforted the young boy and autographed his hat and tennis ball while the security team continued their efforts to calm down the fans.
