Cleanup: TMA to purge the city of stray dogs

RAWALPINDI: Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) has decided to purge the city of stray dogs in a month-long campaign, TMA’s Rawal Town Administrator Tallat Mehmood Gondal told APP on Sunday.

The decision was taken after Gondal received numerous complaints from the local people regarding stray dogs during his visit to Satellite Town, Murree Road, Liaquat Road, Iqbal Road and adjoining areas. The people complained that stray dogs in their areas are causing them inconvenience and pose risk of rabies, a potentially fatal disease.

Gondal added that Town Regulation Officer Tauseef Ahmed Malik has been directed to set up a special team to carry out the task, in cooperation with the district health department. The teams will work in two shifts and submit daily progress reports.

“It becomes very difficult to move freely, especially at night, because of the large number of stray dogs roaming the streets,” said Bilal Khalid, a resident Satellite Town.
