Two fresh cases of polio virus emerge in FATA

After the emergence of new cases the total number of polio cases has risen to 32 across the country this year

PESHAWAR: Two fresh polio-virus cases emerged in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on Tuesday, the health department confirmed.

The virus infected persons included 18-month-old Sahar Gul, a resident of union council Mastak in the Tehsil Bara of Khyber Agency, and 18-month-old Abdullah who resided in Malik Sher Khan village, Mirdaadkhel area of Landi Kotal, Khyber Agency.

According to the officials at the National Institute of Health Islamabad, after the emergence of new cases the total number of polio cases across the country has risen to 32 this year.

Moreover, out of the total 32 polio cases, 10 cases were confirmed in FATA, 13 in Khyber-PakhtunKhwa , five in Balochistan, and four in Sindh.
