Three-member Pakistan team to participate in Sangsom 6-Red World Championship

World's top amateur players will be rubbing their shoulders with top professionals in the tournament

KARACHI: A three-member Pakistan snooker team comprising former IBSF World Champion Muhammad Asif, former World Championship runner-up Muhammad Sajjad and recent finalist member of World Team Asjad Iqbal are due to leave for Bangkok on Defence Day of Pakistan to feature in Sangsom 6-Red World Championship being held there from September 7 to 12.

World's top amateur players will be rubbing their shoulders with top professionals of World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association.

Asif and Asjad Iqbal has been nominated by the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) by virtue of being the current semi-finalist of IBSF 6-Red and Team World Championship and Muhammad Sajjad has been nominated by the IBSF World Championship 2014 runner-up.

Sajjad has been drawn in group ‘B’ with John Higgins (Scotland), Matthew Selt (England), Anthony McGill (Scotland), Yuan Sijun (China), Boonyarit Keattikul (Thailand).

Muhammad Asif is placed in group ‘C’ with Judd Trump (England), Michael White (Wales), Kristjan Helgason (Islamabad), Ahmed Galal (Egypt), Noppadon Noppachorn (Thailand).

Joe Perry (England), Robert Milkins (England), Matthew Stevens (Wales), Asjad Iqbal (Pakistan), Rory Thor (Malaysia), Ratchapol Pu (Thailand) are grouped in pool ‘F’.
