LEA detain Ziauddin Hospital's Managing Director

KARACHI: Three days after law enforcement agencies detained Ziauddin Hospital and University's chairman Dr Asim Husain, the deputy managing director of the hospice was taken into custody on from his office in North Nazimabad, Karachi on Saturday.

Dr Yousuf Sattar is said to be a close aide of Dr Asim Hussain who was detained over corruption charges on August 26.

According to witnesses, personnel in Rangers vehicles clad in their uniforms took Sattar away to an undisclosed location.

"At least two Rangers van arrived outside the hospital at around 1pm," said an official of the hospital who witnessed the incident. "At around 2pm, four men, three in uniform and one in plain clothes entered Dr Sattar's office where they spent at least fifteen minutes before taking him away."

There were also reports that the officials examined documents and data in the administration and IT department, however, there was no confirmation in this regard.

"You cannot call it a raid. They just came and took him away with them in a respectful manner in a jeep, not a patrol vehicle," explained a witness.

Dr Sattar has been associated with the Ziauddin Hospital for the past fifteen years.

LEAs returned to Ziauddin Hospital in Clifton later that night and confiscated some documents and detained the maintenance in-charge.
