ISLAMABAD: The Senate Secretariat has decided to shift the offices established in the basement of the Parliament House to another place as most of the employees working there face health issues due to insufficient supply of fresh air.

For this purpose, a summary has been forwarded to the Prime Minister House for approval.

Earlier, the basement of the Parliament House was reserved as a parking lot for National Assembly members, Senators and other senior government and non-government officials. However, due to a shortage of space for offices, offices for various departments were established in the basement and a large number of staff are working there.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Senate Secretary Amjad Pervaiz Malik said a summary regarding the shifting of offices has been dispatched to the Prime Minister House. He said earlier it was planned to shift the offices from the basement to a new building which was supposed to be constructed near the parking lot of the Parliament House. However, the plan was shelved because the proposed space will be used for the solar power project of Parliament .

He added that the Senate has decided to shift these offices in the old American building near Sir Syed Memorial Hall. The shifting process will start in the first week of September and will be completed in October, he shared.
