Lahore High Court’s Justice Anwarul Haq urged the provincial government on Friday to review a child protection law recently promulgated by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and enact a similar legislation in the province to protect children from abuse.
The observation was made during the hearing of a petition seeking directives for the government to draft laws enacting strict punishments for those found committing such crimes in future.
The hearing was adjourned till September 18 and responses were sought on the petition from counsels for the federal government, the provincial government, the Inspector General of Punjab Police, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
