The green Cultus, licence plate number AHD-246, was parked outside a house near Chawla Market a few days back by unidentified culprits.
On Friday, the house owners tried to move the vehicle as it created a hindrance outside their house.
Police said that the house owners informed them upon observing something suspicious in the vehicle. The bomb disposal squad was called and, after clearance, police found bullets in boxes in the car said SP Asghar Usman.
Usman did not disclose the types of bullets found, but sources said that they could be of a SMG or of a G-3.
According to police, the car was stolen in 2005 within the limits of the Boat Basin police station. Its owner Syed Rujdan Ali, was a resident of Badar Commercial Phase 5.
The car was later recovered and Ali received it through the court. Police officials said that Ali is not the current owner of the car.
Usman said that according to documents found in the vehicle, it belonged to Amir Rehman, a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal. "Amir left his house [in Gulshan-e-Iqbal] almost six years ago," he said, quoting residents of the area.
There is no record of the vehicle available with the excise department regarding who actually owns the car. The police said that an investigation is underway.
