The Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) government will hold a three-day cultural festival in Deosai to boost tourism in the region.

Addressing a press briefing on Thursday, Gilgit-Baltistan's information secretary Muhammad Jehanzaib said that the festival, which was being organised for the first time, was aimed at attracting tourists to the world's second highest plateau -- the Deosai Plains -- in order to boost tourism in the area.

The festival will feature a host of attractions including water sports, cultural performances, horse riding, jeep rally and many others.

Additionally, festival will see musical nights in which performers from the mainstream, as well as surrounding areas will showcase their talents.

“King of games and game of kings - Polo will be the hallmark of the event, which usually attracts huge number of spectators from all over the world,” he Jehanzaib hoped.

The information secretary further said that the festival will be funded by the G-B government, who will also arrange security for the tourists.
