ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be placing a special check on pacer Muhammad Amir's performance in the forthcoming National Twenty-20 Cup to be held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The tournament will be played from September 1 to 15.

The Qualifying round will be held from September 1 to 5, while the National T20 tournament will commence from September 8.

Talking to APP, a Rawalpindi Region official said Amir, who was banned from International Cricket for a period of 5 years, is all set to make his comeback into International Cricket very soon as his ban ends in September this year.

He feels that the national team already lacks pace bowlers and with the inclusion of Amir in the squad the bowling department will improve.

"The PCB is keeping an eye on his performance and he is expected to get a ticket to international cricket very soon," he said.

He said Amir will be representing Rawalpindi Rams in the National T20.

"We have high hopes from the pacer and believe he will surely get a chance in the national squad before the end of this year," he said.

He stated that as many as sixteen teams would take part in the event.

"The selectors will also be noting the performance of several other young and senior players from the tournament," he said.

Jawad khan | 9 years ago | Reply Everybody deserves a second chance but you have to keep in mind that you also discourage this sort of offences never to be repeated as they reflect poorly on the nation so this may be another test case for pcb. If Amir will make a difference to our side then he should play he has done his time but at the same time it should be made absolutely sure to him and the other players that these offences will not be taken lightly in the future and Amir has now more to prove that if he is actually that good to be included in the side again after getting tainted.
fact is fact | 9 years ago | Reply All here against the new: If you think Shane warne was/is a legend of cricket then if he can get a chance after 1 year ban then you alll should think about Amir as well. we need to analyse what caused him do that act and not just come to conclusion that he shud be banned/hanged etc etc
