It released its first tweet on Saturday, India’s Independence Day.
Standing proudly on the southern bank of Yamuna River in Agra, India, the grand Mughal structure embodies Indian, Persian and Islamic influences.
Built in the loving memory of his late wife, the Taj Mahal was commissioned by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 and is also a World heritage site.
The astonishing monument draws nearly 8 million visitors annually.
The first tweets of the monument read:
There are two kinds of ppl in the world. Those who have visited me and follow me here and those who haven't seen me and yet follow me here.
