QUETTA: Joining the three other assemblies, the Balochistan assembly on Monday passed a resolution condemning the speech of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.

Last week, members of Balochistan Assembly, including the treasury and opposition benches, had submitted a resolution at the Secretariat of Balochistan Assembly against Altaf.

A senior official of Balochistan Assembly confirmed that PML-N Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti, along with other MPAs, had submitted the resolution last Wednesday.

“It condemns the speech of Altaf Hussain and seeks legal action against him. The resolution also demands to approach the Britain government to cancel his citizenship and initiate his extradition,” the official told The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity.

Provincial assemblies of Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir have already passed the resolutions against Altaf.

On Friday, the Sindh Assembly had passed a resolution condemning the MQM leader’s statements for seeking foreign help while it demanded the provincial government take strict legal action against him.

Further, the resolution also rejected the demand raised by Altaf to divide the province.

Last week, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir assemblies too had passed similar resolutions against Altaf's speeches. A similar resolution had been moved by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the Punjab assembly as well.
