LAHORE:

The officials concerned should carry out work on a war footing for the rehabilitation of link roads in flood-hit areas. Where necessary, traffic should be restored using Bailey bridges, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday.

“Instructions have been issued to the district administrations for carrying out a survey of losses,” he said.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Committee on Flood Chairman Col (r) Shuja Khanzada said ceremonies would be held at all flood relief camps on August 14 to mark the Independence Day.

He was chairing a meeting to review relief activities at the office of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

Khanzada said that Rs530 million had been provided to DCOs of the affected districts. Khanzada said the scrutiny of flood losses would be conducted through a third-party. The meeting was informed that 28,200 tents, 147,750 food hampers, 82,000 bottles of water and 25,050 mosquito nets had been provided to the affected people. Around 175,000 people are staying at 249 relief camps.
