KARACHI:

A key suspect allegedly involved in the attack on former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram’s car near National Stadium in Karachi was reportedly taken into custody by police investigators on Friday.

Following a row with the driver of the car, a 2002 Honda Civic, the private guard sitting with the driver fired at Akram’s car. Before police could arrive at the scene, the suspects had fled. Akram remained unhurt in the incident.

A case was registered at Bahdurabad police station on behalf of Akram against three unidentified persons. On Friday, the police investigators made a major breakthrough in the case and apprehended a suspect, namely Amir while police was also searching for his companions.

Though the concerned police officials did not confirm the arrest, sources said that the suspect worked at a private security company where he is known as ‘Gullu Butt’.
