LAHORE: Australia is keen on encouraging Pakistan’s economic growth and is looking for partnerships with industry leaders, said Australian High Commissioner-designate Margaret Adamson while speaking at the unveiling ceremony of the Intra-SysteK shoe manufacturing facility on Thursday. Pakistan’s footwear industry leaders, including CEO of Intra-Systek Abid Hafeez and CEO of Pakistan’s largest footwear exporter Servis Footwear Omer Saeed, attended the event. On opening the facility which is the first of its kind in Pakistan, Adamson said it would usher in a new level of competitiveness for the Pakistani shoe industry by manufacturing plastic shoe, which were being imported from India, China or Italy. “I hope that better access to quality plastic shoe-lasts will boost exports and increase the competitiveness of Pakistan-made footwear.” The Market Development Facility is partnering with businesses like Intra-Systek to stimulate investment and regulatory reform that benefits poor people working in Pakistan’s dairy, meat and leather and horticulture industries.
