Large-scale corruption: NAB arrests corrupt official

Karachi Development Authority officers have been named by Yousufani during interrogation

KARACHI: A team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested the former project director of the Lines Area Redevelopment Project, Fareed Ahmed Yousufani. NAB officials said that Yousufani was involved in the illegal bifurcation,  amalgamation and allotment of auction plots in the Lines Area Re-development Project through china cutting to the builder and encroachment mafias, by-passing the auction. These activities have caused a loss in excess of Rs5 billion to the government exchequer. The illegal land allotment has resulted in the generation of funds for financing terrorist activities and unregulated settlements for terrorists. The officials said that several former project directors, former Karachi Municipal Corporation administrators and Karachi Development Authority officers have been named by Yousufani during interrogation.
