Shershah bridge: Show-cause notice issued to IO

Additional District and Sessions Judge issues show-cause notice to Shershah bridge investigation officer.

KARACHI: Additional District and Sessions Judge (West) Gulshan Ara Chandio issued a show-cause notice to the Shershah bridge collapse investigation officer DIG Iftikhar Tar on Tuesday.

Tar reinvestigated the case on the orders of the then CCPO of Karachi in an application filed by one of the accused. DIG Tar, who was ordered to appear in court on Tuesday, was called absent upon which the court issued a show-cause notice to him for January 22, 2011 and also adjourned the hearing till then.

In his inquiry report, the DIG Tar absolved all the accused, including the project’s consultant company and the National Highway Authority’s top officials.

The report was rejected by the trial court which also rejected their bail pleas.
