Wanted: Man killed in police encounter

PESHAWAR: Muneeb Zeb, who had been detained by Gulbahar police in connection with the killing of a head constable of the same police station, managed to escape from the prison with his friend, Ishaq. However, the accused, Zeb, was killed in a police encounter early Thursday morning. Zeb was a resident of Superior Science College area of Yakatoot police station and during Ramazan, had opened fire at the Gulbahar rider squad after a robbery. This had resulted in the death of the head constable.  “Zeb is dead and we have recovered his bike used in the attack on the police while his friend, Ishaq, has escaped. We are searching for him,” said a police officer. Meanwhile, acting on a tip-off, Yakatoot police raided a house in Hazar Khwani and arrested Muhamamd Faheem, allegedly a member of a militant group.
