Pakistan to tour Zimbabwe in last week of September - sources

ZCU chairman Wilson Manase reportedly said that the men in green will visit the country for two T20s, three ODIs

HARARE: Pakistan has agreed to tour Zimbabwe in the last week of September to play a series comprising of two Twenty20s and three ODIs, reported Express News.

Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board deferred the series for an indefinite period but Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Wilson Manase, according to EIN News Desk, has said that the men in green will be touring the nation in the next month.

Pakistan are eighth in the International Cricket Council's (ICC) ODI rankings after they beat Sri Lanka 3-2 and are in contention to play the 2017 Champions Trophy as they pushed West Indies to the ninth position.

Reports in the media suggested that Zimbabwe had invited the Windies to change the matters into a tri-series when Pakistan visited them from August 17.

Pakistan, after bagging an important lead in points in the ICC ODI rankings, played smart and postponed the tour to Zimbabwe as no agreement of dates was reached in black and white.

If things stay as they are before the cut-off date of September 30, Pakistan will enter the Champions Trophy race leaving the 2004 winners ousted from the competition.

Meanwhile, the PCB officials said that though they are still in negotiations with Zimbabwe Cricket, nothing has been finalized and for now the series is far from confirmed.
