Escape from custody: SHO suspended

Karachi Company SHO Khalid Awan was suspended on Monday after a foreign national escaped from police custody. Moreover, SP Saddar Habibullah Niazi has also been removed on the direction of the Interior Minister.


On July 26, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad Police arrested 38 foreigners over alleged involvement in sex trade and not possessing legal documents to stay in the country.

Arrested from different areas, the suspects came from China, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

They were handed over to police stations after FIRs were registered against them and sent on judicial remand on Monday.

However, one of the suspects, Mathia, escaped from police custody from outside the district courts. Sources said ASI Muhammad Sadiq helped the woman escape.
