The Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education on Saturday announced results of the secondary school certificate examination across the province.
In Dera Ghazi Khan, the BISE website was rumoured hacked after many students complained that they could not access their results. Later, the examinations controller issued a statement saying the website had crashed a result of heavy traffic.
Controller Abdul Waheed Khan Qaiserani said the board had set up an SMS service for reporting the results. Students could obtain their results by texting their roll numbers to 800295.
Qaiserani said of the 58,578 candidates who appeared in the exams, 43,069 students had passed.
He said the overall pass percentage was 73.52 per cent.
He said 23,332 out of 30,264 public schools candidates had passed the exam. He said 3,207 of 15,641 candidates from private schools had passed the exam.
He said 5,054 of 8,957 students from the science group had passed and 1,476 students from 3,716 candidates had passed the exam in the general group. The controller said 237 centres had been set up for the exams. He said eight cases of of cheating were reported.
Nabiha Fatima, a student of the Punjab High School in Shadman Colony Eidgah Layyah topped with 1,077 marks.
She was awarded Rs20,000, a gold medal and a laptop.
Kumail Aijaz, a student of Noble Public Boys High School, scored 1,075 marks and stood second. He was given a silver medal and Rs15,000.
Arslan Basit of Sardar Kauray Khan Public Higher Secondary School in Muzaffargarh scored 1,073 marks and stood third. He was awarded a bronze medal and Rs10,000.
Deputy Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. MPA Syed Abdul Aleem Shah and BISE officials were also present.
In the general group (boys), a blind student Hafiz Muhammad Adeel Akhtar, obtained 927 marks and stood first.
Ayesha Imtiaz of City School got 1,070 marks and stood first in the general group among the girls.
In Faisalabad, the BISE reported 70.77 percent pass percentage on Saturday.
The result was announced at a ceremony at the BISE auditorium. MPA Ejaz Ahmad Sheikh was the chief guest.
BISE Chairman Mehr Ghulam Muhammad Jagghar said 13,2639 candidates had appeared in the exams. He said 93,868 had passed.
He said 80,315 students had sat the exam in science group and 52,324 in the general group.
In the science group, he said, 60,339 candidates had passed whereas 33529 students passed in the general group. The chairman said the board had set up 517 examinations centres.
In Bahawalpur, the pass percentage was 73.41 per cent.
Hajra Khalid and Zoha Tanveer shared the top position securing 1,067 marks. Muhammad Saad Khan stood second with 1,063 marks and Muhammad Arham and Saeeda Younus stood third with 1,061 marks.
