Celebrating Eid: Seven held for wheelies

Around 300 injured due to rash driving in twin cities

RAWALPINDI: Police arrested seven youth for wheelies, rash and dangerous driving in the garrison city during the Eid holidays.

Those arrested were identified as Muhammad Waqar, Zain, Adeel, Yousaf Khan, Sikandar, Waqas and Farrukh Ali.

The crackdown was launched on the directives of Rawalpindi City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi on Thursday night under the supervision of deputy superintendents of police and SHOs at Jhelum Road near Ayub Park, Murree Road, Saddar and other areas.

The motorcycles of the arrested youth were also impounded. Arrangements were also made to curb wheeling particularly at the Airport Road, Peshawar Road, Jhelum Road, Ayub Park and other areas. Moreover, around 300 persons sustained injuries due to wheeling in the twin cities during the holidays, while three individuals lost their lives.

Despite these claims, people could be seen wheeling on all major roads of the twin cities throughout the holiday.
